Food Services

The construction of the school district's first cafeteria was approved by the school board in 1944.  It was soon constructed northwest of the school district's warehouse which was originally the grammar school.  As student enrollment grew over the years, eight other cafeterias were built and today five cafeterias are serving breakfast and lunch to students and staff each school day.  The food service MISSION is to serve hot, nutritious and attractive meals to students and staff in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.

P-EBT BENEFIT

P-EBT Benefit Amount Increase

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) is for families with children (up to age 21) who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price meals at school during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Children are eligible if they are certified for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This includes children who attend a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) or Provision 2 (P2) school that offers free meals to all students through the NSLP.

The P-EBT benefit amount for eligible students at Andrews ISD has increased.

What You Need to Do

If your family received SNAP benefits for an eligible child during the 2020-2021 school year, you will automatically receive P-EBT benefits on your current Lone Star Card. Benefits will be issued beginning July 12.

If your family already applied for P-EBT for your eligible children, you do not need to take any action unless someone from Health and Human Services contacts you for additional information. If you are eligible and have not already received a P-EBT Card, a new card loaded with benefits will be mailed to you within two to five weeks of processing. If your family has already received a P-EBT Card for the 2020-2021 school year, benefits will be added to your current card.

If your family has eligible children and you have not applied, apply at YourTexasBenefits.com/Learn/PEBT. (The link is case-sensitive.) The online application will be open until Aug. 26. Applications will be worked on in the order they are received, and a P-EBT Card loaded with benefits will be mailed to eligible families within two to five weeks of processing.
