CONSTRUCTION REPORT
Lee Lewis attended the board meeting and briefed the board on the progress of
the High School Performance Center over the summer months.
OPERATING BUDGET AND TAX RATE DISCUSSED AND SET
A public meeting was held in the Administration Building Board Room during the
regular meeting of the Board of Trustees. Board members voted to approve the
Maintenance & Operation rate of $1.04 and an Interest & Sinking rate of $0.13188
for a total rate of $1.17188 to finance the 2007-2008 budget.

WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE AWARDED
The Andrews ISD workers compensation insurance was awarded to
Weatherby-Eisenrich Insurance Agency and Claims Administrative Services
effective September 1, 2007.
ADDITIONAL TEACHER POSITION APPROVED
AISD Board of Trustees approved hiring a new second grade teacher for the
2007-2008 school year.
AISD AND THE CITY OF ANDREWS CONSOLIDATE ELECTIONS
The City of Andrews and Andrews ISD will conduct joint elections to better serve
the voters of both entities. Early and Election Day voting in May 2008 will be
held at the Andrews ISD Tax Appraiser Office for the School District and the
City.

9-11 Victims Remembered
Eric Lopez along with Weeblos Pack #129 performed the “Presentation of the Flag”
in honor of the 9-11 victims.
GT Texas Performance Standards Project Students Recognized
Mrs. Brenda Yarbrough, teacher at Underwood Elementary introduced Reagan Waldrip,
Kody Hall, Shane Cavett, and Carla Montoya, now fifth graders at San Andres
Elementary to the AISD Board of Trustees. These four students received all 3’s
and 4’s on their GT projects submitted this past summer. Each project was rated
in communication, research and project. A rating of 4 is the highest rating for
each area.
CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs.Yarbrough and students for your great achievement.
New Band Uniforms Introduced
Mr. Leonard presented the new band uniform with a new look for the AHS band
students. Once the uniforms are ordered it will take approximately 90 days
before the uniforms are received.
Media Honor Roll Recipients Honored
Board President Charlie Mohr honored Sam Kaufman and Gerald Reid with
certificates for their unbiased and fair reporting on Andrews ISD.
Enrollment Report Given
On September 6, 2007 enrollment stood at 3015, up from 2983 at this period last
year.
Andrews Public Schools Week Announced
Mr. Howell announced Andrews Public Schools Week is scheduled for the 24th
through
the 28th of September. Devonian, Clearfork and High School will be open to the
public Monday, September 24. San Andres, Underwood and Middle School will be
open to the public Tuesday, September 26. Times for the elementary campuses will
be 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and the secondary campuses will be 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. The
theme for Open House this year will be “One Texas, One Vision, All Children”.
Customary Student Trips Approved
The High School and Middle School band and choir students were approved to take
their traditional spring trips. High School band will travel to Anaheim to
participate in the Disney Magic Music Days Festival of Music and High School
choir will travel to Dallas/Fort Worth. Middle School band will travel to San
Antonio and Middle School choir will travel to the Dallas area.
Construction Report Given
It has been a long time coming……..the AHS volleyball girls will play the very
first game to be held in the High School Performance Center this coming
Saturday, September 15. The Andrews girls will play against Denver City and
Frenship with games to begin at 10:00 AM. Everyone is asked to enter through the
west doors.
New Vehicles Approved
The purchase of a maintenance utility pickup and a vehicle for student and staff
travel were approved in order to continue with the efforts to keep the fleet
updated.
IN OTHER ACTION
The Board:
... approved TASB Policy Update 80
… approved electrical upgrades for the High School Vocational Building
… adopted the Mission Statement & District Goals for 07-08
The next regular meeting of the board of trustees will be Tuesday, October 9,
